"The VFW continues to be the nation's strongest voice for veterans and the catalyst for change in improving veteran's benefits."
According to VFW National By-Laws: Section 219 & 704, each Post SHALL maintain a Post Relief Fund. This Fund can not be used for Post operations, but is available to help Veterans and their Families in need of assistance, support the VFW National Home, to promote and support National VFW Youth Programs like the Voice of Democracy and Patriot's Pen, and other community service projects. 100% of all donations collected are utilized in support of Veterans, Veterans Families, and other VFW assistance programs.
For Fiscal year 2009/2010, the Post Relief Fund disbursed over $15,000. The Post also began it's Food Bank (now the Food Pantry) and, today, distributes food weekly to qualified veterans' families needing help in the local community.
